Whoops, I've let this get a bit out of date again. *ahem*. This would now appear to be my last term at Brookes (eek), so I'm doing one module (Object-Oriented Systems Construction) plus my dissertation. The dissertation is still looking a bit daunting, and will be "A better web front-end to the BLAST search engine", written in Python. A slight hitch being that I need to learn Python first.

In other news, I now have the MG I mentioned er, 3 months ago. It's loads of fun; piccies here.

Apart from work and having too much fun with cars, I went to a foadlets meet. Nice food and rather too much sangria (chi-ching) at Kazbar, from where we moved on to the Angel & Greyhound, for Waggledance and Bar Billiards. Some of us then moved on to the Lebanese Restaurant on Broad Street. Kake is experimenting with removing her 'vegan' label this month, but so far has only been impressed by Kazbar's prawns. This has lead me to try and think of life-changing non-vegan foods for her to try. Still thinking. Alistair also came down from Liverpool for the meet, which was cool. As can be seen from the photos after the survivors decamped to my house for port, Andrew & Phil also turned up after their Suspicious Goings On at 333 Banbury Rd, as did Lucy & Hannah.

Tomorrow, I will be heading off to Brighton to meet up with Alistair and Evangelia, who I haven't seen for aaaaaaages. She's getting married. Far too many of my friends are getting married.

Hmm, not a lot else to say, really. I'll try not to let this get so chronically out of date again. Honest.

Wednesday 8th May, 2002

Spent yesterday in Brighton with Evangelia and her friends, plus Carl. Very cool day, we looked round the Pavilion, newly-reopened art museum, and sat in cafes on the seafront. For food in the evening, we went to an excellent Indian place. Mmmm. Then, after leaving the others to go to the station/back home, Carl and I went for a beer and a game of pool, and I stayed at his flat. Drove back to Oxford this morning, just in time to go to Brookes for a lecture.

See photos here.

Went punting with various people this afternoon, which was nice. Photos to appear soon. This was followed by compsoc, which was hands-on CGI type stuff. For me, this involved adding "Previous" and "Next" ability when viewing photos using my photoinfo.pl script. Still a few features on the to-do list, but it's getting there slowly.

Pfah, I thought I told myself I wasn't going to let this get out of date.

Hmm, highlights of last week. Well, there was another earthlings pubmeet, photos here, in the Victoria pub in London. Much fun. Then went back to stay in Londonhouse for the night with Dom. The following morning, we had a leisurely breakfast, then drove up to Oxford, where I parted company from my passengers, who were going on the London.pm punting outing.

In other news, it looks like I 'accidentally' claimed a free 19" rackmount reel-to-reel tape drive. Oops. And the house is looking nice and shiny, as the painters have been busy last week and this week.

Nearly managing to keep this relatively current now, wow. Went on a silly jaunt to the outskirts of London yesterday with Dan Kolb to obtain a Kennedy 9600 series (9612) SCSI tape drive. It's bloody heavy, but it still works and holds a whopping 270MB.

Went to the Bookbinder's Arms in Jericho tonight. Nice beer and a band

Tomorrow is the OxLUG installfest, so I might well find myself going to that.
