 First contact - the moon begins to move across the sun.

 The light becomes progressively more eerie as the crescent of the sun narrows.

 Almost gone, the sun allows us one last clear view before...

 

 

 Just before totality, the sun vanishes behind a wall of cloud

 A veil of blackness draws rapidly over the French cornfields

 

 

 A shot towards the east reveals the still lit distant horizon

 Panning towards our van...
